YOKOMO – Rookie Drift RD 2.0 Chassis Kit

A new basic machine “Rookie Drift RD2.0” released by Yokomo, a pioneer of drift radio control. With a design concept that emphasizes ease of driving, we have improved the base specs by improving the turning angle and ensuring rear grip so that even those who are trying out drift radio control for the first time can enjoy drifting right away. The chassis configuration also takes into account future expandability, and you can enjoy customization by installing optional parts.

Specifications:

  • New gear box (4 gears)
  • Front suspension mount (43.5mm)
  • Rear suspension mount for new short rear suspension arm
  • Rear short arm standard/new main chassis
  • New upper deck
  • New battery holder (for short and long batteries)
  • New steering wiper & steering rack (5.5mm long wiper/Ackerman with modified/optimized mounting part for forward adjustment)
  • New rear ESC mount standard equipment
  • New front knuckle (uses SD2.0 standard)
  • New rear hub (Uses SD2.0 standard)
  • Revision of gearbox position (installed 5mm rearward, differential gear, motor center of gravity position revised)
  • New front suspension arm (4.5mm rod specification)
  • New front upper arm

A super standard machine that is easy to assemble and handle, based on a supple resin main chassis that emphasizes operability.

A large urethane bumper absorbs shock. Protects the chassis from unexpected crashes.

Equipped with oil-filled shock absorbers front and rear. The tires themselves are hard and easily transmit road shocks and vibrations, so vibration absorption plays a major role.

The cutting angle is further increased compared to the previous model, and the drift angle control width is increased to prevent spin.

A newly designed steering system that achieves an overwhelming turning angle and optimal Ackermann ratio. With settings derived from repeated driving tests, it has high controllability even on P-tile roads with low road grip, brings out the front drive, and allows you to exit corners sharply.

The steering system can be changed into various formations. Not only is it compatible with slide rack systems, but it can also be equipped with a servo closer to the battery like SD2.0.

We are planning to release conversion sets for each option, so be sure to find your favorite settings!

The steering block is the latest Trail 0. It is a straightforward response to manipulation.

The position of the steering stopper has also been revised, helping to increase the steering angle. The tie rod parts are also L-shaped, and everything is combined to achieve a deep drift angle.

The battery holder is split into left and right parts, and by selecting the fixed position, it can accommodate standard size and short size Li-po batteries.

When the short size is installed, you can change the height by simply flipping the battery holder parts, so you can easily fit everything from thick to thin.

A new gear case with a 4-gear transmission that increases rear traction during acceleration. It is sealed and highly dustproof, and the motor mount can be rotated to finely adjust the weight balance.

The rear hub carrier is also the latest model newly designed with SD2.0. The positional relationship between the axle axis and the suspension pin has been revised, and the outside of the suspension arm is set higher than before.

The suspension as a whole becomes more prone to sinking, so it is possible to create a load closer to the rear when rolling or accelerating, increasing driving stability.

Newly designed rear suspension mount for RD2.0. Although the width has been increased both at the front and rear, the rear gearbox has been moved further back than before, and the suspension mount is shaped so that it intersects with the gearbox.

In addition to increasing the load toward the rear, the angle of the universal dogbone also has the effect of increasing rear grip.

Rear mount ESC is now standard. Many expert drivers’ opinions have been incorporated into this design, resulting in various benefits such as increased rear load and easier wiring.

Since it is a separate part from the gear case cap, it is also possible to use it with the conventional brass gear case cap.

Depending on the mounting location and size of the ESC, it is possible to remove the case cap while it is installed.

Of course, you can easily access the differential with just 4 screws, so it’s stress-free when changing settings by adjusting the hardness of the gear differential or maintaining the ball differential.

What you need to run the assembly kit
– 2-channel radio set (transmitter, receiver, speed controller, servo), steering gyro, battery (short size Li-po 2 cells), charger, motor, drift body, Paint for drift tires, wheels, and polycarbonate
